Stampede at Maha Kumbh 2025: Akhilesh Yadav Expresses Condolences Over Injuries

Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, conveyed his sorrow on Wednesday regarding the injuries sustained by numerous individuals during a stampede-like incident at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. He emphasized the necessity for improved monitoring and safety measures at the event.

‘Triveni Yog,’ which has not occurred in 144 years
This year marks a unique celestial event known as ‘Triveni Yog,’ which has not occurred in 144 years, thereby heightening the day’s spiritual importance. The ‘Amrit Snan’ on ‘Mauni Amavasya’ is anticipated to attract approximately 100 million pilgrims.

Due to the increasing pressure of devotees in the Prayag Maha Kumbh area, a barrier broke before dawn, more than a dozen casualties are reported, BSF and NSG created a corridor and the injured and others were taken to the Mela Hospital by ambulance, the Akhara Parishad updated the Amrit Snan on the Sangam coast which was stopped by the Akharas due to the incident and said that the saints and sages of the Akharas will start the Amrit Snan of the Mauni Amavasya festival later.
Instructions have been given to the police officers of the concerned districts to remain on the spot on the borders of the districts around Prayag and to keep a constant watch and control on the movement of devotees going to Kumbh and returning.
The Prime Minister Home Minister has taken an update from the UP Chief Minister on the situation related to the stampede incident and casualties. After the incident, the Chief Minister has held a meeting with the top officials of the police administration and the Kumbh Mela management for a smooth and systematic festival bath.
BSP chief Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav have expressed grief over the stampede incident that took place in Kumbh.
