The much-anticipated trailer for Raid 2 is finally out, and it has already ignited strong buzz across the entertainment world. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, this sequel to the 2018 hit film promises a gripping narrative woven around power, corruption, and justice.
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar gave the trailer his stamp of approval by calling it “an outstanding trailer” on his Instagram Stories. Sharing a clip from the trailer, he praised the intense face-off between lead actors Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh, writing, “Super face-off between the two ultra-talented actors!”

Raid 2 continues the story of fearless Income Tax officer Amay Patnaik, portrayed by Ajay Devgan. This time, the stakes are higher as he confronts a new nemesis—Riteish Deshmukh in a career-defining role as the cunning politician Dadabhai. Known for his lighter roles, Riteish brings a menacing edge to this character, effortlessly navigating the murky waters of political manipulation and corruption.
The trailer hints at a tense psychological battle between the two central characters, far beyond physical confrontations. Ajay Devgn remains stoic and resolute, while Riteish Deshmukh portrays Dadabhai with a chilling calmness and sinister intent.
Raid, originally released in 2018, was inspired by a real-life Income Tax raid from the 1980s. It garnered critical acclaim for its storytelling and realism. With Raid 2, the makers seem intent on elevating the intensity, taking the narrative into deeper, darker territory.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar. While its original release was scheduled for November 2024, Raid 2 will now hit theatres on May 1, 2025.
